Lime kiln is a kind of equipment used to produce lime, usually adopting high temperature calcination to burn limestone and other raw materials into lime for the construction, metallurgy, chemical industry and other industries. Lime kiln can be divided into vertical kiln, rotary kiln, sleeve kiln, double chamber kiln, Maerz kiln (Switzerland), Focas kiln (Italy) and so on according to the furnace type.
Lime kiln refractory lining due to high-temperature thermal shock, mechanical abrasion, structural stress and chemical erosion, the use of very harsh conditions, the requirements of refractory materials must have a good resistance to chemical erosion, excellent high-temperature volumetric stability and the integrity of the masonry, good thermal stability, good resistance to thermal shock, good resistance to mechanical scouring and abrasion resistance and other properties.
Due to more furnace types, different furnaces are equipped with different refractories, commonly used refractory varieties are: anti-spalling high alumina bricks, phosphate high alumina bricks, mullite bricks, silica mullite bricks, magnesia-aluminum spinel bricks and so on.
